Here is an excerpt from Rockpublication.com's

interview with Brad Delson about his equipment
and playing:

Q: I have the guitar player of Linkin Park,
can we go over some of your equipment that you use.

A: Sure. I play Paul Reed Smith guitars. I
also play Ibanez seven string. I use Mesa Boogie
Direct Firehead and Mesa Boogie cabinets and I use
Boss effects pedals, D'Addario strings and D'Addario
cables and Shure Wireless.

Q: Mesa Boogie, That's beautiful man. You can
get a lot of nice of distortion sustained from that
alone.

A: I use natural distortion of the dual
rectifier heads, which is freaking the best. I don't
know. I've never played another head that I like.

Q: Do you have a half-stack or what?

A: Well actually, I'm using anywhere between
2 and 4 cabinets for a show. I feel like, it just
depends. You've got to try it out for yourself. You
know what I mean - whether on big stages, some
people recommend running two heads and four cabinets,
but for the most part, I could run one head and two
cabinets and get away with it.

Q: What does that 7 string do for you?

A: It makes it sound really heavy, even though
I'm just a little guy playing the guitar. I only use
it on two songs, but those are two of my favorite
songs on the record - those are "Run Away" and "With You."

Q: I know Korn uses 7 string a lot but they use
a lot of open tuning. Do you do that?

A: I do. My tuning is everything is down a
half-step. Usually everything is down a half-step. So,
it'll be D-Sharp, C-Sharp, G-Sharp and then I take
bottom string and I do another whole step down, so it's
like drop D, but it's half lower, so it's actually
C-Sharp, G-Sharp, C-Sharp, F-Sharp, A-Sharp, D-Sharp
going up.

Q: Are you always looking for new gizmo's are
what have you that are out there? There's a lot of
special effects. You could overwhelm yourself.

A: There are. Like I'd say ironically, our DJ
has more guitar effects processors than I do, because
he goes into like experimental stuff. And he's actually
running a Boss foot pedal like a multi-effects
processor on his turntables, whereas I'm just using a
few key pedals, like a delay, a chorus, and sustainer.
Because my sound is really straightforward, but I just
need a few key pedals so I can accomplish what I want
to. I'm not trying to sound like space age or anything
like that.

Q: Now those large red head phones you wear are
they wired in or is that for show?

A: If I tell you, I'll have to kill you.

Linkin Park's Mobile Recording Rig
*Recording on their tour bus for the 2nd album*
"It all sits in the back lounge [of the bus], which is about 8 ft wide, 12 ft long, and 7 ft tall. We have a dual-processor [Apple Macintosh] G4 with a flatscreen monitor running Digidesign Pro Tools 5.1 Mixplus, [which includes] a 24-bit 888/24 I/O box and a seven-slot Magma expansion chassis with one Mix Core card and two DSP Farm cards for all the plug-ins. We also have a Roland JV-1080 [synth module] with an Orchestral expansion card, an Emagic Unitor-8 [MIDI interface], a Glyph rack with three hot- swappable hard drives, and a VXA tape backup drive. I [Mike] use Mackie HR824 powered monitors; I seem to get my best mixes with those and a pair of Sony headphones. We do the scratch vocal tracks with a Shure SM58.
